Our mission is to start to develop the skills, qualities and the commitment that is necessary and essential for a lifelong career in the uniformed and non-uniformed public services. In addition our aim this that our students progress onto higher study or specialist industry qualifications so that initial career employment can be gained.

No specific equipment is required.




The public services team operate a flexible open-door policy for additional support. The support for sixth form students can be working with staff at lunch times, during their private student sessions or equally where necessary the sixth former can be directed to attend intervention sessions by Mr Willars, Head of Vocational and Careers Education.

In the sixth form students are required to attend and complete a range of team activities such as assisting in the running of the careers fair and completing an expedition. Students are also encouraged to use their private study time to complete work placements as these are key to develop understanding and to include as evidence in future applications for higher/further study and employment.

BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma Public Services

Students will study and be assessed on the following units:

  • Government, Policies and the Public Services
  • Leadership and Teamwork in the Public Services
  • Citizenship, Diversity and the Public Services
  • Physical Preparation, Health and Lifestyle for the Public Services
  • Planning and Management of Major Incidents
  • However a range of units can be delivered and assessed instead of units 5 and 15 to suit the needs and career interests of the class.
