Leadership

The Boarding House team is led by Stephen Bunney, Head of Boarding, who is also an Assistant Head of School and, as such, is a member of the De Aston Leadership Team.
The Boarding House team comprises of 2 residential House staff, 3 non-residential House staff, 2 residential House Tutors and 4 domestic assistants. All the staff have responsibilty for the out of school hours welfare and social/moral development of the boarders. |
Progress & Monitoring

Academic progress and monitoring is the province of the relevant Head of Year, School Tutor and teaching staff. Regular dialogue takes place between the boarding staff, teaching staff and parents which ensures that House staff can, and do, provide appropriate support to boarders on academic as well as welfare concerns. |
 |
 |
The boarding staff treat the boarders as if they are members of one large family. They take a personal interest in the lives of the boarding students, encouraging them to take an active and full role in their studies, activities, community service and all other aspects of community living. Staff regularly listen to the personal and pastoral challenges of the boarders. They are willing to provide support and advice when they can but will also encourage boarders to share their concerns with families and external providers, particularly when the issues are of a significant nature. The boarding staff are always available for consultation with parents regarding boarding and other issues. |

Study & Supervision

Homework for Years 7 to 11 is supervised by the House staff to ensure that every student has access to all the help and equipment they need. Students in the Sixth Form can exercise their independence to work on their own but are always welcome to join the younger students in the formal environment of the supervised prep rooms. |

Health Matters

Members of the House staff look after day today medical matters and look after any sick children. Specific medical rooms exist for ‘sick’ students allowing them ready access to treatment and also plenty of rest.
All Boarding House staff undergo regular medical and first aid training.
All medicines are kept in appropriately locked cupboards in a room set aside for the purpose. They are administered to boarders by House staff. A record of all medication given to students is made at the time of issue.
|
All the students are registered as patients with the Market Rasen Practice. Appointments are made through the school boarding staff or direct with the receptionist. Boarders can choose to be seen by either a male or a female doctor. They can also choose whether or not to be accompanied by House staff during the appointment.
Full medical records are maintained by the Boarding House staff. Parents are notified by phone and post of any significant matters that affect their offspring. |

Boarders eat alongside staff and are encouraged to eat sensibly. Fresh bread, spreads, milk and fruit are available as snacks after school, in the evenings and at weekends.
Special diets can be catered for. Packed lunches are available for students taking part in activities. The kitchens also provide basic cooking ingredients for food technology lessons at school.
